Week of July 8:
Best - (MARVEL) Avengers the Children's Crusade #1 - The series creators are back handling the Young Avengers for the first time in too long and it was a fantastic start. I love these kids and one of my favorite Marvel characters was the Scarlet Witch (I was totally shipping her and Steve Rogers right before the whole House of M debacle) and I desperately want her back on the good side of things. Maybe she could be like the team's mentor ala how Loki disguised as her sort of ran the Mighty Avengers.
Worst - (MARVEL) X-Women #1 - I have to admit, the fact that this book appeared to be a cheesecake book was why I read it. Unfortunately, it was more Heavy Metal magazine racy comic art than great art that had icon material. Terrible story.

Week of July 14:
Best - (MARVEL) Avengers Academy #2 - Even though this was the best in the week, it wasn't a really good week for books. I'm worried about where this title is going and honestly, I'm more interested in the teaching staff instead of the students and this title unfortunately is going to focus on the students.
Worst - (DC COMICS) Superman #701 - This is by far the worst idea to be written in a Superman comic I think ever. After a brilliant run by Geoff Johns I have to say the title has slowly regressed in entertainment over the two years. Can we go back to Mon-El stories instead? Wow this was bad.

Week of July 21:
Best - (DC COMICS) Legion of Super-Heroes #3 - I've never been a Legion fan, but I have to admit Paul Levitz can write the Legion very well. Not even Geoff Johns wrote such an entertaining story with these characters and along with the young Legion stories he writes in Adventure Comics Levitz is hitting the Legion stories with fantastic stuff. The art has been solid as well.
Worst - (MARVEL) New Ultimates #3 - I don't wish to be a negative commenter but I think I'm completely done with Jeph Loeb written books - especially in the Ultimate universe. I greatly disliked his Ultimatum title and now his volume of New Ultimates is basically eliminating some of the big things Millar (who I also dislike) did in his run. Bringing back Thor. The problem I have with his Ultimate Universe is he basically makes the characters very similar to the regular Marvel U, not only in look but what they do and I thought the Ultimate U would stay different. I'm dropping this title.

Week of July 28:
Best - (MARVEL) Thor the Mighty Avenger #2 - This is a fantastic book! It eliminates all that complicated continuity of the Marvel U and takes it down to the simple facts of Thor being stranded on Earth and doing good. It's basically an All ages title with a nice simple art style and there is fun chemistry between Thor and Jane.
Worst - (BOOM! STUDIOS) Incorruptible #8 - This is the companion title to the seemingly more popular Irredeemable - a title I don't like - but even in following this title for eight issues I'm already confused. The character I liked (Jailbait) because of the relationship with Max and the complexities that brought with his new turn for good but apparently now she's run away from rejection and another woman has taken her alias? I am so confused and if that's what happened I'm bummed. My days of reading this title may be numbered.
