emeraldstag: Sailor Moon's Usagi & Luna (fantasy)
I just had to write this out because I thought it was a good idea and I had to put it somewhere lol. I was talking the other day with a fellow Potter enthusiast and I started thinking, boy wouldn't it have been fun if Warner Bros. had decided to create a straight-to-disc animated feature of Harry Potter that say came out when Deathly Hallows Part 1 became available and it covered some of the storylines that weren't able to be covered in the films.

Sort of like the Animatrix dvd that went with the Matrix movies or the Batman anime thing that went between Begins and Dark Knight.  I definitely think the Remus/Tonks storyline would have been perfect for something like this since their marriage and baby were pretty much erased from the film, with a series of 10 minute shorts with the voices of the film actors doing the parts.. you could even maybe have done one segment focused on Ron after he left Harry/Hermione and his struggle to get back to them.  Maybe have shown some of the Hogwarts life while the trio was on the road, how things changed etc. THE DUMBLEDORE BACKSTORY!

I have too many ideas.

I see ads for the DH2 video game. It looks good but I really hope it was better than the kinect-friendly DH1 game I have. It was my least favorite experience with a Potter video game because it basically was like a really bad shooter.

Six months she hadn't seen me, it's like I'm a Frankie First Year. I'm only her brother... - She's got lots of them, but there's only one Harry. )

ETA: I had half of this post written Saturday night with everything divided between the things i liked, the things I was disappointed with and moments I thought was funny and then the stupid browser went back a page when i pressed backspace (even though I was in the friggin text box) and i lost the draft.. Never composing in a web entry box again.

So whether we like it or not the end is coming and on Wednesday and Thursday, were the London photocall and premiere for Deathly Hallows Part 2. And it's just so interesting to see the pictures and how time has passed. 10 years. It's strange but Smallville just ended in May and now comes Harry Potter and both started in late 2001 and ending in Summer 2011. Strange how two of my fandoms line up so perfectly like that.

This was the photocall and OMG its crazy to see the kids now. If they were American actors I'm sure they'd have been snatched up for a CW show they look so great. XD

And from the premiere that was shown live on Youtube which was AMAZING. And the speeches were so emotional, I was so happy to catch that part live.

Also there were some great moments caught on video:

Here are the speeches from the end of the premiere.

And after the photocall there was also a press conference where this great question was asked for the cast to give their character's favorite line. Only wish Dan had been there to find out what his was.

The trailer is out! I'm really excited and can't believe we're past the halfway point between Parts 1 & 2. I admit it wouldn't be a Harry Potter trailer without the "ooh, that's an interesting change" moment but I was surprised there wasn't like a final spoken line at the end. That is usually the memorable part to me of a HP trailer.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

It freaks me out that only a short nine years ago this movie franchise debuted, and now we are only eight months away from the last film being released. I decided a few years ago after experiencing the atmosphere of an opening night crowd when watching The Dark Knight that I would make it to a midnight or opening night screening of any future big movie, and for me it doesn't get bigger than Harry Potter. I went to a Harry Potter Marathon AMC had on Thursday that started at 6pm with Order of the Phoenix, followed with Half-Blood Prince at 9pm and then the midnight premiere of Deathly Hallows Part 1. Then on Saturday Morning I went ahead and saw Deathly Hallows again this time in IMAX.

There's a lot I want to say but I'll try to keep it as short and concise as possible. On the trailer front, 127 Hours looks AMAZINGLY PRODUCED but i'll never see it, Yogi Bear actually looks funny, Cowboys & Aliens looks PHENOMENAL, and the Green Lantern trailer I need to see more of it and also didn't have it in front of the IMAX HP so big blow to the movie if it's not on IMAX.

These are dark times. There is no denying. )

ETA: I started this post 10 days ago, and busy life kept me from finishing until today. LONG POST AFTER ALL. :)
