Smallville 9.08 "Idol"
Two months into Smallville already? This season is passing way too fast and I know we're only a handful of episodes away from having the typical midseason break for 2 months or so and then a span of episodes that get spread out over a number of weeks before having the final 4-5 together in consecutive weeks. And the news of the two Geoff Johns episodes are going to be combined into a two hour tv movie, I hope the way it was filmed makes it feel more like that then just two episodes cobbled together back to back. That would be exciting!
Next week is "Pandora" and from what everyone has been tweeting and the preview it looks like a whole episode taking place in the future Lois was in. Since "Idol" ended with Lois spazzing out, I wonder if the kiss will have pushed her to remember her entire stay and the episode will be her recollection of the events with her waking up at the end and realizing she has to help Clark save the future. Will be exciting to see how close I am to what will happen. :)
- Zan & Jayna. When I first heard the Smallville's version of the Wonder Twins was going to make their debut this season, I was expecting it to be very much a throwaway episode that wasn't worth watching again but boy was I wrong. First the premise was solid with them being inspired by the blur and trying to emulate him with sloppy copycat rescues/captures. Then how they were able to take Chloe's words to heart and step in to save Lois so that Clark wouldn't have to reveal himself to redeem their values as heroes and give Clark the opportunity to talk to them. Also nice to see 7th Heaven's David Gallagher back on the CW, he looks different without the bleached locks and I laughed when I recognized him. Much better episode than Rhoulette which might be my least favorite of the first 8.
- Lois. Because I had so much fun with the Wonder Twins, I didn't feel as mad that this was a typical Lois is fooled episode, where much like when she's captured and then conveniently knocked out so she doesn't find out about Clark powers, there is this other common theme where Lois figures out Clark's identity and then somehow his allies come up with a miraculous situation to prove that he's not who he is and that Lois was mistaken. Thankfully this episode was bookended with some spectacular Clois scenes, Lois remembering her time with Clark in the future & Lois kissing Clark in the Daily Planet copy room. That reminds me that I'm also a bit steamed with how they're using Lois' trip to the future, instead of going to the year where the Legion was (where it was programmed to take Doomsday) she just goes a few months/years into the future? That is really convenient and not plausible at all. Starting to feel uneasy about all this future bits if somehow she only went a little ways.
